How Their Story Created a Movement

It all started in 2007 with a twenty minute video about the repercussions of making, buying and throwing away so much stuff. The short film went viral: since then, it has had 40 million views, the Story of Stuff Project was launched and the movement has grown into a worldwide community of changemakers.

In addition, they have made 9 other short films, published a best-selling book, curated a series of podcasts, developed learning resources for youth and called countless people to action with their campaigns.

In April of this year, they introduced their Community Launchpad, an initiative which highlights environmental innovators. Uproot was lucky enough to be featured on the Launchpad earlier this month, with their story drawing attention to wood waste.
